Creating a Lesson with HyperStudio

Lesson 1

No. 1 Decide on the type of lesson you want to create. Once you have done that you can start looking for images you can use.

Launch HyperStudio and determine your card size after the dialogue box opens up. You will see the dimensions for width and height. 512 by 384 are normally used. Depending upon what the use for the lesson is, you can make the card size smaller or larger.

The next thing you will have to do is either import a background or choose a background color. If the image is already saved, you can choose it from the folder that contains it. HyperStudio has a variety of background images to choose from. Select “Disk file”to view them.

Say, if you want to do a lesson on planets, you might choose this background image and make “hot-spots for each planet. You would make a card for information on each planet, linking them with an invisible button over the planet that takes you to that planet’s card info.

You can also use this background if you need something with a frame. There are several images to choose from.

This background also has a frame or border. You need to be sure you select "Resize this image to fit the card."

For a lesson on writing or English, you might use this background for student’s stories, poems, or art.

The next lesson will go over how to make a background using the tools and color palettes.
