Lesson 2

Background using Tools and Color Palettes

You may want to make a background of just a plain color instead of importing a background. You can also add color to some imported backgrounds if they are a frame or border type.

To add color to the card, you must drag the detachable tool and color palettes. If the card has an imported background, it will take a certain amount of the standard colors that are usually available on the color palette. To force the standard colors back onto the palette, you must go to Options on the File menu bar and click on standard colors

.

This will make all of the standard colors come back so that you will have more choices available.

If you decide that you do not want an imported background, you can go to Edit on the File menu bar and click on Erase background. It will bring up this dialogue box and you can choose the color you would like to replace the background image with. You can also use this procedure to change the color of a background without an imported image.

Choose your color and then click ok.

To add color to your card, using the paint can, click on the paint can tool to select it.

You must have the selection tool or edit, picked out. You can tell it is selected when it is highlighted.

After the paint can is selected you can choose your color.

You can also change the background using the paint can by picking a pre-made color pattern available below the color choice boxes of standard colors, then the color will become that pattern. You can also use the paint brush or eraser to paint the pattern to your card for other graphic purposes.

The next lesson will tell you about how to insert graphic objects and text objects.
