Author card- A card that states the name of the project and the project's author or creator (s). Usually this is the first card of the stack.
Actions Dialog Box- The actions dialog box will appear when you add add a button, graphic or text object to a card. When you double-click on a button, text or graphic object, you will see an "Actions" button. To apply actions to an object you click on Actions and the dialog box will appear.
On the Actions side of the dialog box, there are places to go, such as to another card, the next card, another stack, or launching a program. Things to Do options are on the other side of the Actions Dialog box.
Browse- To look for something. This may include looking in a file or folder for an image or place to save your card.

Card- Each screen or page is called a card. All the cards put together make up a stack. A card is like a page in a book.
Camtasia- is a software program that can record video and audio that guides the viewer through an instructional process to show how something works or how to do something. Camtasia is the software program that is used to create the instructional videos used in this tutorial. Camtasia is a TechSmith product. Cursor- the flashing line that you see when you click the mouse within a text box. Text will start typing where the cursor is blinking.
Dialog box- A box that pops up that either gives instructions or information about a procedure or something you need to do next. Some dialog boxes allow you to choose features or actions for an object.

Hot-word- This is a word or phrase that is hyperlinked, usually to a definition.
Import background- To insert an image on the background of a card. Images larger or smaller than the card must be resized.

New Button Action- NBA stands for New Button Actions. There are 24 NBAs to choose from after you click on New Button Actions on the Actions Dialog box. A description and instructions for each NBA are displayed when the NBA title is selected.
Peripheral- A peripheral is any piece of computer hardware that is added to expand the ablatives of the computer, such as a USB portable drive, a printer, scanner, keyboard, CD-ROM, Webcam, or speakers.
Pointer Arrow- The Pointer Arrow is a tool on the Tools Palette. You use this tool to select an object or background on a card. You use this tool to move or edit something on the card.
Portable "jump" or 'flash" drive- A mini-device that can be used to store and transfer files. It sticks into a USB connection and is like a mini-disk or hard drive.
Presentation Mode- Presentation mode is when the HyperStudio stack is in a viewable state. This is usually without the Toolbar Menu you see when you are working on stack which is located under the Titlebar at the top of the stack.

Stack- A stack is a group of cards. This can be compared to a cards in a deck of playing cards, a stack of index cards, or pages in a book.
Storyboard- This is a collection of all the cards created in the stack. To access the storyboard, go to Extras>Storyboard and a box of all the cards in the order they were created will be displayed. You can move the order of these cards by clicking and dragging the card to where you would like it to be. You can also go to a card, delete or print the selected card.
Transition- A transition is a special effect used during navigation of a stack to introduce the next card. You can select from a list of transitions and then choose a fast, medium, or slow transition speed. There is a "Try It" button you can use to see how the transition looks.
Twain Scanner image- An image that is taken by using a scanner which is connected to the computer. This image can be saved in various formats such as a jpeg or gif.
